Virtual kinestetika become a reality!

Virtual 3D-objects can now feel no special gloves. More March 24, 2009, I published a post "Virtual kinestetika" ("frozen" copy - here ), which proposed the idea and how to apply the effect of direct touch virtual objects with no special devices intermediaries. August 7 this year portal R & D. CNews published news about the invention of Japanese scientists , allowing the user to touch the hologram and interact with her without intermediary devices (touch the hand of the virtual surface, rotate, etc.).
The only difference: I was talking about the tactile interaction with objects augmented reality, and Japanese scientists have realized the same effect with holograms. But the fundamental difference there really is: a device monitoring the movements of the operator can be configured for operator interaction with virtual objects of any type.
I congratulate the scientists from the University of Tokyo, with an incredible achievement!
Update. September 16, 2009 Reuters news agency published an article , which quoted Hiroyuki Shinoda, head of the aforementioned group of Japanese scientists, which develops technology Touchable Holography ( cm. video presentation ). At the end of the article the author writes: «Shinoda also said the technology could be used to replace other physical objects, making it economical and environmentally friendly» («Shinoda also said that the technology can be used to replace physical objects, which makes it economical and environmentally friendly "). That is: "... Planet Earth relieved by reducing the production of huge amount of" not binding ", by and large, things".

Thank you, Alex, for your kind words! But the phrase "I'm guessing" I like it more.
